Very inspiring blogger award

Lucy from Wonderland has given me a Very Inspiring Blogger Award! Thank you so much Lucy!

The rules are I have to tell you seven things about myself and then pass the award onto other bloggers who inspire me.

1) I'm addicted to Instagram

2) If I could play any instrument I would choose the drums

3) I have strict rules about toast, white toast must be buttered once cold and brown toast when hot.

4) I'm only 5ft 3" tall

5) I prefer Facebook to Twitter so I must be old

6) I've been married to my best friend for the past ten years

7) I am already getting excited about Christmas

The blogs I would like to pass this award onto are:

My Filofax weekend problem and solution

Since I moved into my personal size Filofax ten weeks ago I have had a problem with the layout of the week on two pages diary that came with the Original.  I really dislike how small the weekend is!  I kept looking at the inserts and thinking "What can I do to make this work for me?" because I didn't want to have to buy a replacement diary.  I think it was especially problematic because I was downsizing from an A5 Filofax so my planning space already felt small without the teeny tiny weekend I was faced with.  I'm not saying that I'm really busy every weekend but sometimes I can have more to do on a Saturday or Sunday than I do on a week day.

Filofax week on two page diary

The Original came with a small notebook tucked into a slot on the back pocket so I decided to use these sheets of paper to make my weekend section a bit bigger.  It is the perfect width for me to place it on the page horizontally, stick it down with a thin piece of washi tape and then trim the excess paper off.  Doing this does make my Friday space smaller but it is hardly noticeable.

My solution

I then turn the paper over and punch new holes over the old ones.

What I am left with

I did realise that after I had decorated the pages with washi tape that I probably hadn't  given myself a lot of extra room so I decided to measure the preprinted weekend and my own version just to check.  Taking into account the line that separates the two days, the names in five languages and the monthly calender you get less than 4cm of blank space in total for Saturday and Sunday on the preprinted pages.  Doing it my way gives me between 5 and 5.5cm of blank space depending on which washi tape I use.  It may not sound like much extra room but it feels a lot bigger to me!  I also prefer how it looks and as it only takes me a couple of minutes to do each week I will carry on doing this until the end of the year.

Does you diary have a smaller space for Saturday and Sunday or is it the same as the rest of the week?

My week #39

Monday was the first day of Autumn so my theme just had to reflect that this week!  I think it turned out rather well.

My week in my Filofax #39

I love this time of year, I look forward to the leaves changing colour and feeling a chill in the air.  It hasn't got any cooler here yet, in fact it is still quite warm but the evenings are getting darker earlier so I'm happy!

On Tuesday this blog reached 40,000 hits, that is pretty mind blowing for me.  I remember being giddy when I reached a hundred views not long after I started writing it,  I never imagined then that I would have so many people stopping by here!  I don't want to sound like I'm making a speech but I do want to say thank you to everyone who reads my posts and follows this blog, I really appreciate it!

I got another lovely surprise in the post this week.  These planning supplies were sent to me by Jules who is in the same Facebook group as Tai (who sent me some goodies the other week.) and I.  I am putting together a couple of thank you packets for them but I need a few more bits before I can send them off.  I love the colourful paperclip Jules sent, I had to use it this week and it goes perfectly with the pages.

More lovely planning supplies

Thanks for reading and I hope you have a great week!

My week #38

Oh my gosh it is Monday afternoon already, how did that happen?  I feel a bit naughty that I didn't get around to posting this yesterday but I was at a birthday party for most of the afternoon so I'm a bit behind now.  Anyway here are my pages for last week.

My week in my filofax #38

I love the washi tape, pink and mint go really well together and the roses make me think of cute country cottages with white picket fences.

I feel like last week was really busy.  There were a lot of appointments to attend and things to do but most of them are out of the way now so hopefully this week will be quieter.  There are a couple of things I didn't get around to doing on Friday that I need to carry forward to this week but I'm trying not to be hard on myself.  Not completing a To Do list isn't the end of the world right? Right?

My week #37

My theme this week is quite simple but I like it.  I was feeling very pink and girly!  The pink washi and stickers combined with the white paper makes me think of coconut ice.  I might have to buy a bar next time I go shopping.

I think this week looks a bit neater than usual too.  I'm not sure if it's because I have decorated it less or if I took more care when I was writing things down.  I guess it could be a combination of them both.

On Saturday I received a lovely surprise all the way from New Zealand!  This random act of kindness (a RAK) was sent by Tai who I am in a Facebook group with.  I just love everything she sent and I can't wait to start using them in my Filofax.  There are a lot of autumnal colours in here so they will be perfect for this time of year!

Thanks for reading!

My week #36

This week I have gone with a fairytale theme inspired by the fact season two of Once Upon A Time finishes tonight.  I can't wait for 8pm, I have my spot reserved on the sofa and a bar of chocolate with my name on!

My week in my Filofax #36

School started again on Tuesday so I have spent most of the week catching up on things and getting back into our old routine.  It felt quite odd being up and out the house so early in the morning but the children have really enjoyed being back.

I am about to start working on my next guest post as part of the Philofaxy All Stars tour for Crafty Thingamabobs.  I will let you know when it has been published but if you haven't read Christine's blog before head over now to check it out, she has some gorgeous Filofaxes for you to drool over!

As always thanks for reading and have a great week!
