Planner fail or user error?

Last week I almost missed an appointment, I realised I was supposed to be there 15 minutes before my allocated time and I grabbed my coat, phone and keys and ran out the door.  Thankfully I managed to get there on time, I arrived a bit dishevelled and out of breath but I made it.  The problem was I couldn't concentrate once I was there because running all the way and not preparing myself for the meeting before hand left me feeling flustered and and a little lost.

So what caused me to nearly miss this appointment?  Was it a planner fail or my own error?  I have to say I definitely think it was all my fault!  I have been in a bit of a funk for the past few weeks and I haven't been using my planner properly.  I have made notes on my Dodo Pad diary inserts but I haven't decorated my usual weekly spreads and I think that was my downfall.  Because my reminders have just been scribbled in I haven't felt the need to open my planner and look at them as often as I do when I have made my pages look pretty and fun.  I decided it was time to get back on the planner wagon and I dug out my washi tape, stickers and stamps and got to work!

Finding my planning groove again

I have to say I have felt a lot more organised this week and my Easter themed spread makes me smile when ever I check my to do lists and reminders.  Hopefully I am getting back into my planning (and blogging!) groove now, I am certainly feeling more positive than I was before and I will be back tomorrow with another Planner Friday post.

I hope to see you then!

  1. Eep! Sorry about the stressful appointment! I feel the same, since I've started decorating my pages I feel much more organised and look at them far more often. I don't have a lot going on but checking my planner regularly helps me keep an eye on what's coming up.

    1. Thanks Olivia!
That's exactly it, if my pages are pretty I am more inclined to check them more often and then I don't forget what I am supposed to be doing and or where I need to go!

  2. Planning is 2-fold - making the plan and executing it. If only our planners had built in alarms that would go off to remind us of an appointment 15-30 minutes before hand! That part must fall to us. I've missed things because I didn't have my planner open and it can't always be. For appointments especially, I do put in a reminder in Outlook so I have an audio reminder. Not so much for tasks, unless they're absolutely due for that day or by a specific time. Hey, we're human, right? :) Glad everything has been sorted out and that you're back on track.

    1. Thanks Elena, I think it was a bit of a shock to mess up when I've been using my planner and being on the ball for three years now!
