Mrs Brimbles photo challenge - week one

It has been ages since I have taken part in a photo challenge so when I saw Mrs Brimbles was doing her October challenge again I decided to take the plunge and join in!

Day one - October

I decorated my pages to welcome in October last week.  I also picked the last rose of summer from my garden as I was so surprised to find it still in bloom at this time of the year and I wanted to document it.

Day one - October

Day two - Brown

My two brown beauties!  I am still absolutely in love with my Van der Spek organiser but my ochre Malden will always have a place in my heart too.  Don't they look lovely together?

Day two - Brown

Day three - Autumnal

One of my favourite things about this time of year is seeing the leaves change colour.  I found a quote last year that said "Autumn is a second spring when every leaf is a flower." and I still think it is very true.  I love seeing bright red leaves and every shade in between through to yellow and green ones, they remind me of the natural beauty that is all around if you take the time to look for it.

Day three - Autumnal

Day four - So me

My new watch is so me!  I hate taking my phone out of my pocket or bag to see what the time is, I would much rather wear a watch and check that instead.  I especially like this one as the strap is real leather, it is rose gold and sparkly, so yes it really is very me.

Day four - So me

Day five - I made this

Last year I made a zombie bunny paper clip and used it for Halloween so this year I decided to make a new one.  I brought this washi tape from Cloudy Cow and made a creepy cat clip to match it.

Day five - I made this

Day six - Favourite & Day seven - Snugly

My Van der Spek organiser is my all time favourite planner, I mean it was custom made to my specifications so it is perfect to me!  The body warmer is super snugly and the print reminds me of a Cath Kidston design.  Unfortunately it is not mine, it is my daughter's!  I am very jealous!

If you would like to join in with the challenge you can find all the prompts here on Mrs Brimbles blog.

My week #4

Hello!  I launched my big giveaway on Monday and so many people have entered already!  If you have commented on the post and I haven't replied yet I am working my way through them all so I will get to you soon.  If you haven't entered yet, do it now!  Actually the final time you can enter is before 12pm on the 9th February (GMT) but if you are already here reading this you might as well do it while you remember.

My week in my Filofax #4

In case you are wondering, I haven't gotten bored with my fluoro pink Original and moved back into my Malden already, I just thought this week's theme looked better against the ochre colour.  I popped the pages out and took these photos with the Malden but I am still very happy with my gloriously pink Original.

My week #51

If you read my Planner Friday post you will have already seen my theme for this week, this is how it looks all filled in.  I love the snow scene washi tape but it always feels a bit dark to me so I paired it with pink to brighten it up a little.

My week in my Filofax #51

I spent four days out of five last week at my children's school for concerts, activities and an assembly.  I am so glad the holidays have started now and we can stay at home and get the last of the Christmas prep done instead of rushing about all the time.  Cleaning the bathroom in my pjs while singing Jingle Bells is more fun than it sounds!

I knew I would need more room on my diary pages this week so I used a journalling tag to record how I was feeling.  It gave me some extra space to write my to do lists.

I saw a #HashtagADay diary in a planner group on Facebook yesterday and thought it looked like fun.  Instead of writing long journal entries you choose a hashtag to describe your day.  I liked the idea of keeping things short and sweet but then I realised that is pretty much what I have been doing for the past few months anyway using my feeling happy/feeling funny stamps!

Journalling tag

This is my last post before Christmas so I will wish you all happy holidays now.  I hope you have a wonderful time and I will be back next week with my last post of 2014!

Happy holidays!

My week #50

Hello!  A couple of weeks ago I received a fabulous Toadstool Kit from Lesley, the owner of Annie's Paper Boutique.  She knows I am a little obsessed with these spotty fungi and thought it would be perfect for me, she was right!  It comes with this cute washi tape, a fun pen, a set of three clips, a small purse/pouch and a set of Today's Tasks cards designed by Lesley herself.  These aren't available online yet so this is a sneak peek just for you!

My lovely surprise from Annie's Paper Boutique

I used the kit for my theme this week and added some Christmassy stickers.  It turned out as one of my favourites weeks!  I felt happy each time I opened my Filofax and everything I had to do felt like less of a chore.

My week in my Filofax #50

For the past few weeks my daughter has been staying behind school for drama club, this week I got to see what they had been up to when I went to see their performance.  I felt so proud of her up on the stage in front of so many people and really enjoyed the show.  All of the children were fantastic, though the funniest part of the night was when a shoe was accidentally kicked into the audience by an enthusiastic young boy showing off his dance skills!

Task list in use

I am waiting for my prize from the Winter Filofax Blogger Challenge to arrive, I was given some money to spend on their website so I ordered a new filo for me and one as a prize for me to give away in January when my blog turns two.  I can't wait to show you them both when they get here!

Thanks for stopping by!

My week #49

I feel really late posting this on a Wednesday!  I've been tackling all those tasks I have on my Christmas to do list but apart from some wrapping I am pretty much finished now.  I think I can finally relax a little and stopping fretting that I'm not going to get everything done in time.

My week in my Filofax #49

This week I moved back into my Malden, the Patent was too small for all the things I want to carry around with me at the moment.  It's a shame because I love how festive and cheery it looks but I just need bigger rings.  My theme is still Christmassy, of course, and I love the bunting washi tape my friend Kath sent me, it's so sweet!

Did you see my post last week about the winter Filofax blogger challenge?  Well I have some news, I won along with Charlie and Susana!  Thank you to everyone who voted for my photo, I was so excited just to have taken part in the challenge so to win was kind of amazing!

Thanks again!

My week #47

Are you ready for an explosion of pink?  I went completely over the top with this week's decoration as it was my birthday week!

My week in my Filofax #47

I have been in a party kind of mood so when I found this quote

"Life should not only be
lived, it should be
celebrated!"

I thought it was apt and I popped it on a journalling tag to remind/inspire me.

To top the week off I received some good news but I am going to share that with you in a separate post soon.  Also I haven't forgotten about the giveaway I mentioned a couple of weeks ago, I am going to try and post that at some point this week so keep an eye out for it!

My week #46

After last week looking so festive I thought I'd better do something a bit different this week.  Though if you look closely you'll see the Trendy Page Dot reinforcements I used look a bit like peppermint candy canes, well that's what they remind me of anyway!

My week in my Filofax #46

I had to write myself lots of little reminders this week, there were school trips, music lessons and special event days at the school that I had to remember.  I don't know how anyone can keep track of all these things without using some kind of planner!  At least once I have written it down I don't have to worry about them any more, otherwise I'd wake up at 3am panicking about forgetting something!

It is my birthday today and I can hear my cake calling my name.  I can't have a slice until the children are home from school so I am going to treat myself to a cup of tea and a couple of ginger biscuits and maybe do a bit of online shopping until then.

Thanks for stopping by!

My week #45

This is not a Christmassy theme, I repeat this is not a Christmassy theme... it just happens to be a red and green week for little red riding hood!  The fact it looks Christmassy is entirely incidental and nothing to do with my growing excitement.

My week in my Filofax #45

But seriously there's only six weeks to go and in my mind I am already rearranging the room to make space for the tree and trying to remember where I put all the fairy lights back in January.  Why didn't I write it down!  This year I am going to try and be more organised.

My week #44

Ok so the theme for this week just had to be Halloween, it is one of my favourite times of the year!

My week in my Filofax #44

For me Halloween signals the start of so much fun.  It is quickly followed by Bonfire Night, three family birthdays (including my own) and then it's December and Christmas!  I am trying to reign in my excitement because it is only the 3rd of November but I have this little fizz of it growing inside me and it's only going to get bigger as the month goes on!

Angel Jem asked me to show her the pumpkins we carved for Halloween so here they are lit up and looking spooky.  My eldest two took over the carving duties this year, I just got to cut the tops off and scoop the insides out.  At least it was a fun activity for them to do during half term and they are really proud of how they turned out.

Mrs Brimbles October photo challenge - final round up

I can't believe October is already over!  I had such a blast taking part in Mrs Brimbles photo challenge and the good news is she will be running another one in December.

Day twenty-two - Colours of autumn

As you may know I'm totally nuts about autumn so I have these colourful leaves as the wallpaper on my phone.

Day twenty-two - colours of autumn

Day twenty-three & twenty-four - Journalling & Autumn decoration

I was playing catch up with this photo so I did two prompts in one shot.  I love using my journalling stamps to record how I am feeling and I think this gold washi tape is perfect for decorating autumn pages.

Day twenty-three & twenty-four - journalling &
autumn decoration

Day twenty-five - Out and about

I was "out and about" on Saturday and spotted these flowers that were the same colour as my aqua Finsbury.

Day twenty-five - out & about

Day twenty-six - Pens of plenty

This is a very small selection of my pen collection!

Day twenty-six - pens of plenty

Day twenty-seven - Changing

The clocks went back an hour the day before I took this shot so I was changing the time on my Alice in Wonderland pocket watch necklace.

Day twenty-seven - changing

Day twenty-eight - Pimp it up

My favourite thing about using a Filofax as my planner is that I can pimp it up and make it my own!

Day twenty-eight - pimp it up

Day twenty-nine - To be read

I have had this book sat on my shelf for a while now and I really do need to sit down and start reading it soon.

Day twenty-nine - to be read

Day thirty - Treat

I have a thing for kawaii jewellery and charms, especially when they are shaped like sweet foodie treats!

Day thirty - treat

Day thirty-one - Halloween

Happy Halloween, I hope you had a good one!  This year I was demoted to cutting the tops off the pumpkins and scooping out the insides, my eldest two children had all the fun carving the faces into them.  Next year I will have to buy one to do myself!

My week #43

It's another autumn theme this week.  I love how the gold, orange and brown all go together, they remind me of rust coloured leaves and shiny conkers!

My week in my Filofax #43

The quote I used at the top of the page says...

"Autumn is here inside
my heart."

... but looking at it now, it could sound a bit depressing!

Close up

Everyone in the house has been ill at some point during the week.  I'm glad there is no school this week so we can relax and recuperate for a bit now.  I could happily sit on the sofa, in my pjs and under a blanket watching kid friendly "scary" movies for the rest of the week but I have to start getting things ready for Halloween.  Those pumpkins aren't going to buy and carve themselves!

Thanks for stopping by and have a great week!

My week #42

I really moustache you a question, do you like my washi tape?  I loved the moustache craze last year and when I saw this tape it was colourful and covered in cute little 'staches so I couldn't resist it!

My week in  my Filofax #42

I don't think my week looks overly busy but it felt it, the days flew past and suddenly it was Monday again!  I am really looking forward to Friday as it is the start of the half term holiday and I might be all caught up again by then.

The highlight of my week was receiving a parcel to review, I am so excited to tell you all about it but I can't just yet.  Sorry to be mysterious, I'm not sure if I am allowed to say anything more for now.
