My week #11

This is just a quick little post today to share with you my week #11 pages.  It was the week of my lovely in laws 50th wedding anniversary so I decided to go with a hearts and flowers theme in my planner.

My week #11

I used a sticker kit from IsabelleTheOwl on Etsy so everything goes together perfectly.  It is one of my favourite sets and I had been saving it for a special occasion for nearly a year before I used it!  

The rose gold day stickers are from Bits Of Stationery and I used them to cover up where I dropped my check box stamp when I was planning my week!  I tried to cover most of the misplaced ink with a strip of glittery pink washi tape but part of it was on the word Tuesday so I hid it with one of these stickers and then used a couple more on the rest of the week so it wouldn't look out of place.

My week #10

A couple of weeks ago I brought a "seconds" pack of stickers from FiloFabulouss on Etsy, it was a lucky dip selection so I didn't know what I would receive but I love almost everything in Sarah's shop so I knew I would be pleased with whatever arrived.

When the stickers came I couldn't see anything wrong with them at all and I got some super cute designs!  I used some of them in my planner this week for a summer boho kind of theme.

My week #10

Pink and blue is one of my favourite colour combinations, especially in pastel shades and they go beautifully with the gold washi tape, stickers and paper clip.

My week #9

Last week we had a lot of snow, in fact nearly everywhere in the UK had some but inside my planner it was the beginning of spring!

I carried on my floral theme from last week with some really pretty washi tape and then matched the colours from it with my Trendy Page Dot reinforcements and inks.  

It was so nice when I was huddled up at home under layers of clothes and a blanket to look at my pages and imagine that the first days of spring were just around the corner even though they felt like a million miles away!

The snow is all thawed now and hopefully there wont be anymore until next winter, I am keeping my fingers crossed for warmer days, sunshine and flowers soon!

Planner itch & my week #8

I have a confession, I haven't really been using my planner recently.  I know, I know, what's wrong with me right?  I had been in my Van der Spek custom organiser for two years when I started to feel planner itch, that little nagging feeling that it was time for a change, for something new or different.  So I moved into my rose gold Saffiano and set it all up but I still wasn't happy.  I wasn't using my planner to plan so eventually I just started writing things down in a notebook or in my TN and adding reminders to my phone calendar instead.

I was stilling feeling the itch and unsettled so I decided to go through my planner collection and pick out one to start using again properly.  I was drawn towards my white Webster's Colour Crush planner, it seemed fresh and springlike so I filled it with flower prints, my favourite paperclips and my new Ultimate Success Planner inserts hoping to get my mojo back and for the first time in ages I felt inspired!

My week #8

I grabbed my washi tape and stamps and set about planning my week!  It was half term so I didn't have too much going on, it was a nice easy week for me to dip my toe back into the planning water so to speak.

Having decorated my pages I enjoyed using my planner again throughout the week, I was more inclined to open it up and check my to do lists and reminders and that helped me stay on top of things.  I am feeling much more organised now!  I have even planned this week too!

Planner Friday - February

It's Planner Friday again over on the Trendy Twine blog, please pop over and take a peek!

I know it is only the end of February but I am already daydreaming of spring!  I can't wait to see flowers blooming and feel the sunlight warming my skin again, winter feels like it has lasted at least six months!  With this feeling in mind I have swapped planners into a white binder and I am filling it with lots of florals and fresh colours to keep me going until spring actually does arrive. 

Journalling cards & paperclips

I have added some journalling cards and a few of my favourite paper clips into the pockets of my planner and they make me smile each time I open it up!  The positive quotes on the journalling cards are going to help me through the last days of winter and they are nice and handy if I want to document anything on them in the meantime.

I continued the spring theme onto my planner pages this week using lots of lovely Annie's Paper Boutique products.

I am really happy with how they turned out!  I love how clean and tidy they look because of the APB stamps and I matched my ink colours to the washi tape and Trendy Page Dot reinforcements just to pull it all together.

My week #30

I love the quote "Be a flamingo in a flock of pigeons" so when I saw these flamingo stamps in Lorabailora's summer 2015 collection along with the matching washi tape I was instantly drawn to them!  I ordered a few rolls of different washis from her including the selfie tape I used last week and a couple more you will be seeing soon.  They are really fun!   

My week #30

I hadn't really thought about colouring in my stamps before.  I joined a planner stamping group on Facebook a few weeks ago and saw other people doing it so I gave it a go this week and I like it.  It has given me a few ideas for my other stamps I haven't used in a while.

I am such a big flamingo fan that this is one of my favourite necklaces from Jubly Umph, I like being able to match my jewellery to my planner pages and feeling coordinated.  It doesn't happen often!

How I plan using monthly inserts - a washi and decoration free post

Today I thought I would give you a peek at what goes on behind the washi tape in my planner.  I love decorating my weekly pages and having fun with them but the real reason I use a planner is to keep me organised.  That means I have to write everything down, I used to be able to keep track of things in my head but now we are a family of five there is just too much for me to remember!

At the moment I am using the month on two pages inserts that came with my Webster's Colour Crush Planner.   As you can see I have already started filling in August, I like to plan ahead!  

I always use a pencil on the monthly inserts, these pages are my first stage of planning so things can end up being moved around or cancelled.  Nothing moves onto my weekly pages before I have scheduled it on these ones.

How next month is shaping up

When I start a new month the first things I write down are:

• Birthdays
• Direct debits and bills due
• Work hours

These are the most important things I have to remember, I then make a note of any:

• Appointments
• Deadlines and reminders 
• School functions
• Rubbish and recycling collections

I also use some of the undated boxes for either little notes or so I can see some of the previous month while I am looking at the current one.  For my August pages I added the 29th to the 31st July because my husband will be working those days and I wanted to see what that week looked liked without having to flip through between the two months.

There is a section on the right hand side of the monthly inserts which is for your Quick Lists.  I use this space to note down things I need to do at some point during the month.  My list for August is mainly about the school uniforms and supplies I need to buy before September and I have also written down the sizes I need.  

So that is how I use my monthly pages, I plan, I scribble, I rub out and rearrange until it all fits together and then I transfer it over to my weekly pages and add a splash of colour.

My week #29

I decided to do something a little different to my usual style this week.  I spotted this selfie washi tape in a shop on Etsy called Lorabailora and thought it was really fun.  It also went well with a set of social media stamps I had brought a little while ago so I combined them for this theme.

I love Instagram so I have been trying to get back into the habit of posting more often on there.  That was one of the reasons I brought the stamps with an Instagram style camera, I have been using it to remind me to share my photos and take more pictures.  I'm not back to a photo a day yet but I am on my way towards it.

My pages might look busy and a bit hard to read now they are completed but they were actually very clear and simple before I doodled in my blog stats.  I don't usually add the numbers until the evening or following morning so it was still easy for me to see my to dos and reminders for the rest of the week as I filled them in.

My week #28

I wanted a really fun and sunny theme for this week as it was so close to the summer holidays.  I used a bright yellow ink and made some bunting to match this sweet pink and yellow paper clip from my July Brimbles Box .   

My week #28

I love how happy all the yellow makes me but I found that when I went to check my diary before bed I couldn't read anything I had written or stamped in it!  In future I will have to save the yellow ink for decorative stamps and not my planner ones.  I really need to be able to see what I have to do and remember easily. The main reason I use a planner is to keep me organised and checking what I have listed for the next day is part of my routine that helps me stay on track.

I decided to do something different with my layout this week, I used the lined Check It Off stamp for a change.  I have seen a lot of people use this one in their Erin Condren planners and I liked how it looked.  It is very handy for people like me who end up writing on a slant if they use unlined paper!

My week #27

I brought these stickers from Paperchase nearly two years ago and I have hoarded them ever since as I thought they were too cute to use.  I decided to break them out this week as it was my wedding anniversary (a special occasion) and my husband was born in London so it made sense to finally use some of them.

Apart from my anniversary, the biggest thing to happen this week was a surprise email I received from a company I love asking me to get involved with their new project.  It's all a bit hush, hush at the moment but I am very excited!  I can't wait to tell you about it some time soon.

What was the highlight of your week?

My week #26

I love this heart and cloud washi tape!  I complemented it with matching heart check it off boxes which I coloured in as I completed my tasks.  The stickers I used are from a set of French themed images so I wrote my inspirational quote in French this week, thank you Google Translate!  It says "Soyez heureux" which just means "Be happy".  

My week #26

I said last week things were about to get a lot busier and I was right.  This week saw me attending a brass concert at my daughter's school, sorting out things for her end of year field trip and taking my son to his new secondary school to buy his uniform, get his school paperwork filled in and an ID card for when he starts in September.  The next couple of weeks look even busier so I am counting on my planner to keep me organised even more than usual!

My week #25

I wanted super kawaii pages this week so I used some of my favourite stickers to decorate them.  I think it is my planner charm from Kawaii Studios that inspired me, I love seeing it's sweet little smiling face when I look at my organiser.  It's just too cute!

My week #25

I will be relying on my planner more and more over the next month as there are only four weeks left of the school year.  This usually means lots of events, parents evenings and concerts will be going on and with three children it is so hard to keep track of everything without writing it all down somewhere.  I am glad I have gotten myself into the habit of pencilling in the dates as soon as I receive the letters otherwise I would be doomed!  Ok, ok, doomed might be a bit dramatic but I feel awful if I miss or forget about school events.

My week #24

My decoration for this week was all about the gold!  I brought a new roll of polka dot washi tape and some black ink so I wanted to pair them together along with my weekend bunting sticker from The Plump Planner.  I also used my hole punch to cut some of the polka dots out of the tape and used them as little stickers.

My week #24

There were a couple of family birthdays this week and my daughter went on a school trip to London for the day so I had a lot of things sort out.  The school sent home a big list of things they wanted her to bring, I wrote them on a post it note and stuck it onto my page marker so I saw it each time I opened my planner.  It really helped me and I had everything packed and ready a couple of days before she went (apart from two packed lunches which I added the night before) it was nice to feel really organised again, it has been a while!

My week #23

This is just a quick post to show you my pages from last week.  I have been busy working on Planner Friday for tomorrow and suddenly it is Thursday and I haven't shared them with you yet!

My week in my planner #23

If you read my unicorn post last week you will know why I have moved into my Webster's colour crush planner but if not the main reason is I am trying out using bigger rings!  So far I am enjoying the extra space and it is nice having everything in my binder without having to try and keep it slimmed down.

I have also received my leather samples from Van der Spek so I will be writing about those next week to show you the colours I chose and the possible combinations I am thinking of for my dream planner.  There are six that I love so it's going to be hard to pick my favourite two!

My week #17

This week I am using my Webster's planner, well not so much using it.... more like I wanted to use the gold weekend bunting sticker so I went with a gold theme and I knew it would look nicer against the gold and white of this planner.  I can't quite face moving all my stuff into the Webster properly just yet.  I did have a thought about why and what I am going to do but I will share that with you after National Stationery Week is over.

My week #17

Most of the week has revolved around me taking photos of all the prizes I will be giving away for #NatStatWeek.  I have also been writing lots of posts and getting them scheduled so I will have time to join in with all the fun instead of trying to write a post each day.  Yes I have planned ahead!

Webster's Pages colour crush planner review

I will start this by saying I wasn't looking to buy a new planner! I was perfectly happy in my bright pink Original Filofax but I had seen the colour crush planners everywhere and they had piqued my interest.  Then on the Thursday before Easter Create and Craft dropped the price to £19.99 and I couldn't resist placing an order!  I received the parcel the following Tuesday which is pretty speedy considering Friday and Monday were bank holidays so that was a nice surprise.

I have taken lots and lots of photos for you because I want to show you all of the different inserts that come with the planner.

So far so good right?  Here are a couple of things I am not so happy with.

There is a gap...

... in the top and bottom rings

and the finish feels kind of cheap

The gaps on the rings are small and so far the pages aren't catching on them.  I have tried repeatedly opening and closing the rings to see if that would fix the problem but I haven't seen any improvement.  The gaps aren't big enough for me to complain or want to return it to Create and Craft but they have annoyed me a little, especially when the planner was tucked away safely in it's own box.  Also maybe I am being overly picky about the finish?  I feel like I got what I paid for at £19.99 but if I had brought one at the full price of £39.99 I wouldn't have been impressed. 

I do like the range of inserts that come with the planner, they are all pretty and practical but I haven't been won over by the binder.  Here is my list of pros and cons:

Pros

• wide range of inserts supplied 
• comes with a choice of dashboards and two sets of dividers
• the rings are gold
• the rings are bigger than the rings of a personal size Filofax
• it is pretty
• comes in it's own gift box
• colourful and fun

Cons

• gaps in the rings
• cheap finish
• the black pen loop looks out of place on the white binder
• expensive if you buy one at full price

Don't get me wrong, I don't hate this planner.  I can throw it into rotation with my other binders and use it as and when the mood takes me but I don't think I would buy any more of them unless the quality improves.
